Our top cap can be wide or narrow. Our posts can be face or deck mounted. You can have a narrow face mount post. You can mix the styles on the same project. For example, face mount on the stairs and deck mount on the balcony. Next decide whether you want black or stainless cables.
Deck Mount vs Face Mount cable handrail
Narrow Top vs Wide Top cable handrail
Here's our video on planning your handrail layout. We walk you through the steps of information we need in order to quote the posts for your cable handrail project.
What is a 7-11 run-rise of a stairway? What is the degree of angle of your stairs, how do you find out? In this video we show you how to determine what the run and rise and angle of your stairs are. We build our standard posts to be 7-11 or 32 degrees. If you need something other than 7-11 or 32 degrees, we can build it, but it is a custom post. We just need to know what you need for your stair handrail
Handrails do have very specific measurements and requirements to meet. So do stairs in general. Here's some links to the Municipality of Anchorage code requirements. https://www.muni.org/departments/ocpd/development-services/codes-handouts/handouts/handoutr07.pdf
These 2 handouts will clarify how to make sure your handrail and stairs meet the code. This code is nationwide and meets the International Building Code and the International Existing Building Code.
